The SALSA Solution Local Authors Launch New Book with Latino Twist

(Olympia, Wash.) – The SALSA Solution:  Adding Picante to Your Life is the summer’s hottest new title, just off the press from VI Publishing in Olympia.  A parable for success with a Hispanic beat, the story follows two buddies who have burned out in dead-end jobs.  To put the gusto back, they revive a boyhood dream – starting a Mexican restaurant.  Along the way, they learn important lessons contained in the acronym SALSA.

The SALSA Solution is a short, fun read, appropriate for audiences of all ages and cultures.  It is 88 pages in softcover, available for $14.95 at www.salsasolution.com and Amazon.com.  Publication is timed to dovetail with Hispanic Heritage Month, which begins next month.

Rafael Colón and Alesa Lightbourne, Ph.D., are co-authors of The SALSA Solution.  Colón is one of America’s best-known Latino speakers.  His previous book, Journey to Success, won Best Business Book of the Year at the North American Book Exchange.  He lives in Olympia.  Lightbourne is an award-winning co-author of eight books ranging from inspiration to corporate history, and teaches writing and communications at Chapman University and Columbia College.  She lives on Whidbey Island.

Nationwide Insurance Company is the first major corporate partner of The SALSA Solution, purchasing 532 copies of the newly published book to give away at the Dallas Latino Book and Family Festival held in late July at the Dallas Market Center in Texas.  At the same time, Nationwide Insurance and VI Publishing presented a donation of $1,000 to Latino Literacy Now, the non-profit arm of the book festival.  VI Publishing gives a percentage of all proceeds from book sales to charities, putting into practice the values that SALSA teaches.

“The SALSA Solution is more than just a book.  It’s a way of life,” said Colón.  “It ties together the themes that make Latino culture great, which anyone can use to create a truly great life.  Goal-setting, an emphasis on family, hard work, lifelong learning and giving back to the community – these are concepts that everyone must understand to achieve a sense of purpose and fulfillment.”

Colón and Lightbourne offer training seminars based on The SALSA Solution.  A companion workbook is almost complete, and the authors are also working on a follow-up title, The SALSA Solution for Entrepreneurs.

The SALSA Solution is published by VI Publishing, a division of Voices Internacional in Olympia, Washington.  For more information, please go to www.salsasolution.com or www.voicesinternacional.com.
